Les
was born into a prominent pioneering family in New Zealand.
While he was still at school, Les was encouraged by his father,
a famous New Zealand entrepreneur and glow-worm cave-discoverer,
Lawson Burrows, to work in the family's large tourism business.
On finishing school Les worked in the family horticulture
business and completed an apprenticeship. He went on to manage
the business and later gained a diploma in horticulture.
Les migrated to Australia in the 70's and used his knowledge
to work for a large chemical company. He has a great love
of nature and the environment.
Les was a bachelor for 49 years before
he met and married Jean in 1989. Jean had three children,
Wendy 16, and 13-year old twins Peter and Jason from a previous
marriage. Les and
Jean bought a hotel together.
For many years Les was a heavy smoker. He smoked 70 cigarettes
a day and finally quit when daughter Sophie was born in 1989.
Les contributes the years of smoking to
getting cancer. In 1989 Les had the first of many strokes.
He was told he had blockages in the arteries in the back
of his neck and this could not
be corrected. Doctors actually told Les, he could just drop
dead.
He found it difficult to turn his head with out feeling
faint and his blood pressure was very high.
In 2004, Les was diagnosed with bowel
cancer. While he was in recovery ward the surgeon told
Jean the cancer was very advanced and was "right through
his liver." He
advised Jean not to tell Les the extent of the cancer growth
as he did not think he would recover from the surgery. The
surgeon said he expected the cancer to DOUBLE in size within
a month.
However, Les, on regaining consciousness,
demanded to be told the full extent of the cancer. The
surgeon told Les and advised him not to have chemotherapy as it would destroy
the quality of life he had left. This time he told Les "if
you want to do something do it NOW"
We were both devastated. Then a friend
told us about a Miracle Man, named John of God, who was in
central Brazil. We were told of a number of Australians he
had helped or cured. We
knew we must go immediately. We even borrowed money as we
did not have the ready cash sitting there.
Les says he just instinctively knew
he had to go to Brazil to see John of God if he wanted
to survive. Les was not sure if God really existed & was fearful of dying. He was
not a spiritual person and had never meditated in his life
before. He knew he needed to go to Brazil but felt anxious
of the unknown.
When Les arrived in Abadiânia
he was amazed at the love and compassion shown to him and
the amazing Energy he could feel there. His spirituality
was being awoken for the first time.
Les went before John of god in Entity and was sent for a
number of invisible spiritual surgeries. He was told by Entity
he must go home have a scan and start chemotherapy. The Entity
said they would be with him to lessen the negative effects
of the chemo. Les went home and had a scan. It showed he
had already been given chemo by Spirit. (the invisible surgery)
Les had chemo in Australia, and each fortnight he had a
blood test to see the effect the chemo was having on his
immune system. He was improving with each dose of chemo he
had. He remained well throughout the chemotherapy. Les last
had chemo in May 2005.
He has been great since. In fact he can easily push the
mower around his 3 acre home. The cancer has not progressed
as we were told. His neck is feeling great and his blood
pressure is almost normal. Les says he now knows there is
a God and feels very blessed.
